Her father happened to be a baker, and she gave him a task. Because he was a baker he obviously baked a wedding cake, but he added a little something to the extreme top of the cake. He positioned a model of his daughter and future son-in-law on top of the cake. He did this to display the love that these two young people shared for each other.

Is this an actual story? Perhaps it is. Is it fictional? It could be. Does it foreshadow the prominence that the cake topper would have on not only the wedding cake but the big day? This is a given. This mere baker of cakes probably had no idea what a trend he had begun. What we now call the wedding day would never be the same again…

What comes to mind when you think of the 50’s? The King (Elvis) and Rock & Roll right? Well cake toppers were about to become much more popular than ever during these years as those soldiers returning from World War II started to settle down and raise families.
