Michael Jackson Thriller: The Person. The Music

by Jon Moreno on November 21, 2009

When people think of Michael Jackson Thriller a lot of things come to mind. Thriller was Jackson’s sixth album that he ever put out. This album was released worldwide in nineteen eighty two. This album came after his other famous album off the wall which came out in nineteen seventy nine.

This song has become even more popular since Jackson’s death in two thousand nine. Thriller is the sixth album that was released by Michael Jackson. And it quickly became my favorite the first time I ever heard it. I also love to watch the music video because it is a very interesting dance that Jackson and his crew do in it.

As a result of his fathers affair and child Jackson grew deeply depressed in this time. He was stated as saying he was lonely and that all he did was sit in his room and cry. He confided in one of his friends that he wanted to be the biggest and the richest singer in the world.

In nineteen eighty Jackson asked Rolling stone to do a magazine cover for his album “Off the wall” and rolling stone declined which made Jackson upset. He stated that rolling stone told him that black people on the front of magazine covers do not sell well. And Jackson said “just wait, some day the magazines would be begging me for an interview”.

Thriller was also preserved to the National Library of Congress and they deemed it “Culturally significant”. Jackson’s other album off the wall was a huge success but not as largely known as Thriller although it did receive favorable reviews just like thriller.

In a little over a year the album “Thriller” became the number one selling album of all time. And up to this very day still remains the number one album of all time. The sales of Thriller were estimated to be at seventy to one hundred and ten million tracks in the united states. This record won a record breaking eight Grammies in nineteen eighty four.
